I am sure this has been asked before, but the search didn't return any results for me, so any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for any kind of data chart or report giving the benefits of SSD vs HDD power savings, and pro's/ con's of each.

I like having all data at my fingertips before making a financial decision that could frustrate me if i screw up.

SSDs are supposedly less power hungry than normal hard drives, but in my opinion in a laptop with only one or two disk drives, relative to all the other components that suck way more power, it's not going to make a big enough difference to be worth basing a purchasing decision over.

SSDs have lower power consumption over HDDs, i don't have any hard numbers, but the increase in battery life i saw on my G73 was easily noticeable (about 20 to 30 mins). Battery life is still low, but that's due to the fact that the laptop is a battery vampire given the hardware configuration it sports.

I agree that it isn't a HUGE factor, but it is still a data point that I like to have.
